When entering the Principality of Liechtenstein (HB0) from the Swiss city of Buchs (HB9) our traveller was a bit astonished, as there are no border controls. Effectively Liechtenstein has a customs union with Switzerland. Therefore also the Swiss Franc is the currency in Liechtenstein.

Its area is just over 160 square kilometres (62 sq mi), and it has an estimated population of 35,000. Its capital is Vaduz. The constitutional monarchy is headed by Prince Hans-Adam II. Within one day our traveller would be able to visit all villages of this country. However as the Alpine landscape is beautiful, our traveller decided to make a hiking tour on the famous "Fürstin Gina" track (more than 900 m of altitude difference). This track is partly on Austrian territory, so the traveller also entered a few meters into Austria. After having a beer in the evening in Vaduz, the traveller left Liechtenstein heading towards Austria.
